AN INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed chef is calling on all Hampshire food and drink producers for his restaurant in Winchester.

Raymond Blanc, owner of Brasserie Blanc on Jewry Street, said he is always on the look-out for local suppliers as he doesn’t believe in importing good produce when it’s on your doorstep.

"There are many great food sources, including watercress, buffalo milk, pheasants and other game, all these wonderful things," he said. “But we need more.

“We have producers who come from Laverstock Farm where we get our asparagus and obviously our watercress comes from the nearby farms but we cannot get enough of local suppliers.

“It’s so important to have a good relationship with good producers and we need more all the time to keep our food so fresh.”

Any food and drink producers interested should contact Steven Loakes, the general manager of Brasserie Blanc, on 01962 810870.
