WE cannot say thank you enough.

That’s the message from a Winchester family after they came a step closer to realising their fundraising goal thanks to a generous donation.

Jo and Andrew Syvret have been campaigning to raise £90,000 for their six-year-old daughter, Jemima, who was born with cerebral palsy, so she can get treatment to help her walk on her own.

Now, after months of triathlons, rowing, and bracelet-making, the family has received a car to help them along with their worthy cause.

The Hendy Group has donated a red Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec to be auctioned which they hope will raise over £13,000 for Jemima’s cause.

Paul Hendy, managing director, said: “I heard about Jemima through my good friend David Cheyne who is on the organising committee for the ball. We’re hoping to raise £13,495 with the auction.

“It should be a fun evening all in aid of a fantastic cause that has touched our hearts. We hope for the very best outcome for Jemima so that her quality of life can be the best it can possibly be.”

Jemima’s parents are asking as many people as possible to get involved with the auction, the winner of which will be announced at a ball next month.

The Beatrix Potter-themed party will be hosted by former Saints player, Nicky Banger, and will be held at the Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton on February 1 from 7pm. Tickets costs £750 for a table of 10 which includes a three course dinner and half a bottle of wine.

Jo Syvret, of Norlands Drive, Otterbourne, said: “It is very generous of the Hendy Group and when we received the news we were very excited. We feel very honoured that our daughter has brought us closer to the community in which we live and to local business who are willing to help.

“To receive such overwhelming support makes us feel that even though we have tough challenges to face we are not doing it all alone. “The car will no doubt raise a significant amount of funds for Jemima and ensure that she has the best opportunities for a more independent life. We cannot say thank you enough to the contacts which have managed to secure such an amazing prize.

“We hope everyone has a fabulous evening, particularly those who has have assisted and supported us with the organisation and prizes.”
