2:00pm Wednesday 18th September 2013 in News
WINCHESTER Rotary Club is gearing up for its major annual fundraiser.
The Clarendon Marathon takes place on Sunday, October 6, and the club is encouraging locals to sign up and raise funds for good causes.
Starting in Salisbury, the 26-mile route follows the historic Clarendon Way to Winchester across hills and tough terrain, before ending at Kings’ School.
Winchester Rotary president Nick Bell said: “Winchester Rotary is pleased to be organising the marathon for the second time, promoting fitness but also raising much needed funds for Rotary charities, as well as enabling the runners to raise thousands of pounds for their own charities.
“I am proud to be running and raising funds myself for Winchester Youth Counselling and look forward with some trepidation to tackling the challenge on the day.”
Around 1,000 runners are set to take part but registration is open until Friday, September 27, via clarendon-marathon.co.uk.
