12:00pm Monday 9th September 2013 in News
A COMMUNITY focused response to caring for the growing number of people with dementia has been launched.
Shops, leisure companies, transport providers, health and social care organisations and charities are all being asked to sign up to the Hampshire Dementia Action Alliance and pledge to commit to creating Dementia Friendly Communities.
By 2020 the number of people living with dementia in the county is set to rise by 30 per cent to 24,000. The business community is being called upon in particular to get involved to help increase understanding and enable people to live well with the condition.
The initiative was launched at the Norton Park Hotel at Sutton Scotney near Winchester last Tuesday (SEP 3) with representatives of local NHS services, charities, local government and businesses signing up.
