A MAN injured in a road collision near the Boomtown music festival in Winchester last weekend has been charged with drug and public order offences.
Youssef El-Kirate, from Barrington Road, Worthing, has been charged with possession of Class A and Class C drugs.
He was injured on the A272 at around 7.30am on Saturday, August 10, and taken to Southampton General Hospital by ambulance where he was treated for a broken arm and bruising.
Mr El-Kirate, 31, was also charged with a public order offence following an incident shortly before the collision in which a man was walking on the road and sat in the car of a passer-by that stopped to check on his welfare.
Detectives investigating the incident said the suspect made no attempt to steal the car or drive it away.
Mr El-Kirate has been bailed to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on September 3.
