A SITE for a new emergency hospital north of Winchester has still not been identified.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust announced last year it wants to build a £70m hospital with a state-of-the-art cancer centre between Winchester and Basingstoke.

The trust is looking at land around the A34, A303 and M3 which includes Micheldever, Micheldever Station, Kings Worthy, Sutton Scotney and South Wonston.

But deputy chief executive and chief nurse Donna Green said they were no closer to earmarking the site.

She said: “A site has not been identified yet and that is still a work in progress. We are aware that is something everyone wants to know but it's still some way off yet.”
