CELEBRITY chef Ainsley Harriott was in Hampshire to celebrate the hard work of two Wickham scout leaders.

Barry and Chris Samways, of 1st Wickham Scouts, have worked hard to replace their wooden hut destroyed in an arson attack six years ago.

Wickham CE Primary, which agreed to house the new hut on its land, hosted a surprise barbecue for the pair, and Ainsley helped cook the meal, using ingredients from local shops, including Swanmore Butchers.

Ainsley filmed the event for the BBC's One Show as part of its Community Champions series.

Headteacher Maria Ackland said: “Barry and Chris have dedicated their lives to scouting and were so upset when the hut burned down, so we wanted to do something to celebrate them.
