Stolen dog returned to Winchester owner: man arrested in Fareham

A DOG owner from Winchester has been joyfully reunited with her pet, more than two years after it was stolen.

The springer spaniel bitch was stolen from a garden in Kings Worthy in November 2010.

It is now back with her owner after a member of the public found her in Fareham and took her to a vet.

The owner has asked not to be identified.

Police from the North Hampshire Countrywatch team today executed a warrant at Tynefield caravan site, Whiteley Lane, Fareham this morning (Thursday March 7) and arrested a 34-year-old man from Fareham on suspicion of theft. He is currently being questioned by police.

Anyone with information about the theft of dogs should contact the Countrywatch team by calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police have been investigating a spate of dog thefts in the Winchester area in recent months.
