Service celebrates life of popular physio Rene
11:00am Tuesday 25th September 2012 in Romsey
Friends and former colleagues will gather at Romsey Abbey on Friday (September 28) for a memorial service to celebrate the life of Rene Jackson, a former physiotherapist, who was an active member of many town organisations.
Rene died on June 28 at the age of 75 after a short illness.
She and her late husband, Derek, were extremely active members of the Romsey Ramblers and Rene later participated in many activities run by the U3A. She was also a former captain of the ladies’ team at Romsey Bowls Club.
Although then living in Rownhams, she first became known to many Romsey residents when she was the community physiotherapist, based at Abbey Mead Surgery, in the 1980s.
When she retired and moved to Romsey, she continued to use her skills, joining with other physios to run a club for people who have suffered strokes and continued to do so until shortly before her death. Rene also took great pleasure in working as a National Trust volunteer at Mottisfont. She leaves two sons and four grandchildren.
Rene’s family hope as many people as possible will join them for the service, which starts at 3pm. A collection will be taken on the day in aid of the liver ward at Southampton General Hospital, where she was treated.
