Man suffered head injury in car park confrontation

A man needed stitches to a head wound following an assault in a Romsey car park.

The injury occurred during what police described as a “physical confrontation” in which the man was punched and fell, hitting his head on the concrete surface of Waitrose car park, off Alma Road.

The man, a 51-year-old from Romsey, suffered concussion and a cut on the top of his head.

A 25-year-old man from Totton was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm following the incident, on Saturday, August 18, but no further action will be taken.
