Pensioner, 72, and her grandson fall victim to road rage attack

A 72-YEAR-OLD woman was left injured after a van driver assaulted her grandson.

The incident happened after the pensioner pulled over in Latimer Street, Romsey, to drop off her 22-year-old grandson.

A driver of a Transit van behind the woman’s car protested that she was blocking the road and when the 22-year-old got out of the car the van driver atacked him, say police.

The man fell back into his grandmother, who had got out of the car, who in turn then fell to the ground injuring her elbow.

She was treated at Southampton General Hospital, but the grandson did not need treatment.

The van driver got back in his vehicle and drove off towards the town centre following the incident, at around 11.45am last Friday.

Police have arrested a 47-year-old Dibden man on suspicion of two assaults.

He was bailed pending further enquiries until October 1.
