Eight passengers injured as collision sends bus into ditch

A DOUBLE-decker bus ended up in a ditch close to Paulton’s Park entrance following a crash.

The incident happened last Friday when a car was in collision with the Wiltshire and Dorset X7 service from Salisbury to Southampton, on the A36.

The bus ended up in the ditch leaning at a 45 degree angle.

Eight passengers were injured. Six were walking wounded, but one passenger sustained a broken collarbone and another was thought to have more serious injuries and was taken out of the veihicle on a spinal board.

The driver of the bus, a 62-year-old from Laverstock, near Salisbury, was unhurt, but the driver of the Renault Espace, a 42-year-old woman from London, sustained minor injuries.

Both vehicles were badly damaged.

The road was closed following the incident, at around 6.30pm, while emergency services were at the scene.

Witnesses are asked to call PC Colin Green, in the Roads Policing Unit at Totton, on 101.
