Generation gain

Villagers are hoping to harness the power of the sun to help run their hall.

The management committee of St Edward’s Hall at West Tytherley has submitted a planning application for 13 solar panels.

It is hoped the panels, which will cost £9,000, will pay the hall’s annual electricity bill of £200 and generate an extra annual income of £1,200.

“This is a green way of generating energy and it will help maintain an important village facility,” said hall committee chairman, Jane Larner.
