A history group has appealed for help in tracking down a village school’s records.
Plaitford History Society is looking for Plaitford C of E School’s logbooks for the period 1845 to 1965. So far searches at both Hampshire and Wiltshire Record Offices have drawn a blank.
The logs are mentioned in an article on Plaitford School in a LTVAS publication of 2005, in which the author writes: “To read the school logs of the 19th century is like reading a story by Dickens”.
Geoff Cuell, vice chairman of the society, said: “LTVAS have been unable to help as they were only involved with the publication of the article that had been researched by the author, who sadly, is no longer with us. If any reader has in their possession, or knows the whereabouts of these logbooks, would they please telephone me.”
Mr Cuell can be contacted on 01794 322859.
