MP opens school’s new play trail

ROMSEY’S MP Sandra Gidley officially opened a £10,500 play trail at Romsey Primary School and had a go on some of the new equipment.

County councillor Mark Cooper was also at the official opening last Friday.

Headteacher Ruth Linsley “We couldn't be more delighted with our new play trail. After lots of planning and a big effort with fundraising, its finally ready and in the children’s words - its amazing."

Pupils from the school council helped with the design of the trail and the project is part of an on-going scheme to extend play facilities.

The play trail comprises five pieces of balancing and hanging equipment installed on an all weather surface.

Over the last two years Friends of Romsey School has organised coffee mornings, school discos and fairs to help pay for the equipment.

The bulk of the funds came from the Friends but the school also received a grant form Tst Valley Borough Council and contributions from the Wessex Lift Company, Arkay Engineering, All Electric, Bradbeers, Absolutebalance Ltd, PJ Electricals and Romsey Chiropratic Clinic.

See more pictures of the opening in this week's paper.
