A PROSECCO festival is coming to Romsey this month.

On March 24, Crosfield Hall will host the festival that will feature different types of artisan gin and prosecco for visitors.

From 7pm, drinkers will be able to enjoy a bar, alcoholic-cake stall and live music.

It is the first event of its kind to hit the market town.

Town centre manager Mark Edgerley has welcomed the news and said the new event will be "refreshing."

He said: "Romsey is attracting interest from organisations that believe what we have known for a long time; Romsey residents enjoy a good event.

"A prosecco festival is certainly something new and dare I say 'refreshing', and we wish it every success.

"Events like this draw in visitors to the town, giving welcomed footfall on the day, but also having showcased Romsey, many then return later to enjoy the many features of our historic market town."

Tickets for the event start at £13 and include a free glass of prosecco on arrival.
