POLICE have launched an appeal after a man was held at knifepoint on a quiet Romsey footpath.

A man in his late teens approached a 47-year-old walking along the Abbotswood Nature Reserve footpath in the middle of the afternoon.

Holding a penknife, the teen demanded the victim hand over everything he had.

The man then refused, with the teenager running off in the direction of the houses nearby.

A statement from Hampshire Constabulary said: "He is described as 5ft 8ins tall, white with dark eyes and light stubble and aged in his late teens. He wore a black hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms, with a white logo on the left leg.

"He was also wearing blue and white trainers."

Anyone with information about the robbery, which took place at 2pm on February 22, is asked to call PC William Nye at Hedge End Police Station through 101.
