A WATER problem that affected hundreds of Hampshire residents has now been fixed, Southern Water has announced.

The problems meant households in Romsey, Timsbury and Stockbridge had a disrupted water supply for more than a week.

Tankers were brought in to pump fresh water to more than 560 properties, including the Abbotswood Estate, whilst the issue was resolved.

But the utility company has now confirmed that the repairs have been successful.

A statement from Southern Water said: “We have now removed tankers from the Abbotswood area of Romsey, following emergency work this week.

“The tankers were brought in to provide a continuous supply of clean drinking water while we worked to fix the issue.

“Customers should experience no further problems with low water pressure or loss of supply.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and would like to thank our customers for their understanding.”

As reported, an unpredictable winter weather has caused a water crisis for the Test Valley residents.

Southern Water blamed high and low rainfall in the local reservoirs for disrupting supplies.

A prolonged spell of dry weather led to reservoir levels falling then, when heavy rain fell, it churned up the shallow water causing it to become muddy.

As a result, residents experienced low water pressure and had an intermittent loss of supply since Friday, Febraury 3.
