MORE than 100 people have been arrested as part of a Hampshire police drink and drug driving crackdown.
Officers are warning motorists who drive under the influence that they will be caught and face serious consequences.
Hampshire Constabulary has teamed up with Thames Valley Police and made 85 arrests for drink driving offences, 14 arrests for drugs offences, and seven arrests for failing to give a sample.
In total this has led to 74 charges, while 19 drivers have been bailed and 12 have been released without charge.
Superintendent Simon Dodds, head of the Joint Roads Policing Unit, said: “Driving under the influence is a deliberate act.
"If you are going out and plan to be having a drink, remove the temptation; leave your keys at home and arrange a lift.
"If you know somebody is driving under the influence – it could even be your friends or family – tell us so we can put a stop to it before it is too late.”
Anyone who suspects someone is driving under the influence of drink or drugs is asked to call Hampshire Constabulary on 101 or text 80999 with the details of the vehicle, driver, location and times.
In an emergency call 999, and if you want to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
