TWO homes in the same Hampshire street were broken into while the occupants were both away on holiday.

Raiders stole valuable and sentimental jewellery worth thousands of pounds from the houses in Horseshoe Drive, Romsey.

The thieves broke in by smashing their double-glazed windows and then ransacked the upstairs bedrooms as they searched the properties.

Neighbours failed to be alerted to the break-in because a security light behind a garage was “yanked” so that it didn’t light up.

Among the items taken include an eight-year old Longines watch believed to be about £600, a diamond cluster ring worth about £900.

A diamond ring shaped with flowers on a silver band costing about £1,000 was also taken.

Another ring bought about 27 years ago was stolen.

It was a gold band studded with diamonds, with the middle stone being slightly discoloured.

Three gold wedding rings and a gold signet ring, with the initials PF engraved in italics were also taken.

If anyone has any information regarding these burglaries or believes they may have been offered any of the stolen items, call Hampshire police on 101 quoting reference number 44160265383.
