TWO pet sheep were injured when two dogs launched a vicious attacked on them in a field in Hampshire.

Officers are keen to trace the owner of two Labradors after an incident took place in fenced-off fields by a property in Plaitford at about 12.45pm on Sunday, May 22.

The dogs, one a black Labrador and the other a golden Labrador, were seen by a witness attacking the two sheep and stopped when a witness shouted at them.

A third dog was there, described as a dirty-looking West Highland White Terrier. No owner could be seen and none of the dogs wore anything to identify them.

Both sheep required medical attention from a vet. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

PC Claire Bates, from Romsey police station, said: “While this is a rare occurrence, the severity of the attack and the dogs’ behaviour is concerning.

“We would like to appeal to the local rural community and for the dogs' owners to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Claire Bates, at Romsey police station, on 101, quoting 44160191444.
