THEY have performed for queens, presidents and the Pope.

Now they are heading to their first ever performance in Hampshire.

The Libera choir will perform a selection of their work at Romsey Abbey and organisers warn tickets are already selling fast, with people coming from as far as Exeter and Kent for the experience.

The 30-strong group will head to Romsey fresh from a series of gigs in South Korea and already this year they have visited Japan and the Philippines.

They will sing a range of popular and classical choral music on April 23, starting at 7.30pm.

Formed in 2000, the choir boys' talents have seen travel to America, Russia, Europe and Asia.

They have featured alongside the likes of Miley Cyrus and Meat Loaf and recently worked with Sir Paul McCartney on a soundtrack for a game.

Television appearances include BBC's Songs of Praise, BBC Breakfast, a guest performance on BBC's contest Last Choir Standing and, in America, NBC's Today show and Tonight with Jay Leno.

They are also heard regularly on Classic FM.

Their largest audience was when they performed to 65,000 people at the Yankee Stadium in New York as part of Pope Benedict XVI's first visit to America.

Choir founder Robert Prizeman said: "We are so looking forward to our first ever visit to Romsey.

"With its unique acoustic, and fabulous atmosphere and architecture the abbey is an ideal venue for us and we are grateful to the church for the opportunity to sing there.

"The fully staged concert will be performed by over 30 Libera boys, a small orchestra, all enhanced with special lighting."

Liz Wagner, churchwarden at the abbey, said: "We're absolutely delighted and excited that Libera are coming to the abbey.

"Tickets have been going exceptionally well and there's only a few premium seats left, which shows how popular this group is.

"We know we have got people coming to the concert from almost all areas of the country."

Tickets can be bought from the Romsey Tourist Information Office or by visiting ticketsource.co.uk/romseyabbey.

They cost £10, £20 and £30.
