IT’S an unlikely place to hold a political debate.

Candidates in next month’s General Election running for Parliament in the Romsey and Southampton North constituency will be grilled by the public during a debate at Romsey Abbey on Monday evening. (April 20).

The Election Hustings will be hosted by the Association of Romsey Churches and it starts at 7.30pm and concludes at 9.30pm.

The five candidates are Caroline Nokes (Conservative), Darren Paffey (Labour), Ben Nicholls (Liberal-Democrat), Ian Callaghan (Green Party) and Sandra James from UKIP.

Revd Canon Tim Sledge, vicar of Romsey said, “We look forward to welcoming everyone to the Abbey for a chance to raise those issues which affect us all with the local candidates. Questions should be sent to the Parish Office by Monday morning.”
