A SCALED down scheme to build a large solar farm at Houghton will be debated by borough councillors next week.

Kronos Solar is behind the 64-hectare project which involves installing around 180 panels on agricultural land at Eveley Farm. A group from nearby Broughton, which is opposing the scheme, hope that it will be rejected like its predecessor.

Alan Josling from Broughton Against Kronos Solar said: “We have compared this scheme with the previous scheme, which was refused locally, and have found little difference in the design or size of this huge solar farm. There is strong feeling, locally and regionally, against the Eveley Solar Park demonstrated by the number of objections, in excess of 100, the application has received. If approved, this huge solar farm would have a detrimental impact on the landscape of the beautiful Test Valley and spoil the views for miles around.”

The plans go before the southern area planning committee on Tuesday.
