A VITAL club that provides a place for older people to meet new people over a monthly meal has been given a boost.

The Lockerley over 60s lunch club has been awarded a £400 grant from a Test Valley Borough Councillor Neville Whiteley's community fund.

The money will help cover the club's running costs for six months.

Mr Whiteley said: “I am pleased to award the Lockerley over 60s lunch club with the grant. The volunteers do a great job to ensure that older members of the community have the opportunity to socialise and enjoy lunch with friends at least once a month. The club is a very worthy recipient of the grant.”

Test Valley Borough Council's community grant scheme aims to encourage residents to set up community led initiatives, supported by local councillors.
