Three-car crash blocks main road through Baddesley for two hours

First published in News

A SOUTHAMPTON woman had to be cut free from wreckage of a three vehicle crash at North Baddesley on Monday afternoon.

Police say the 52-year-old was at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo 156 JTS which collided with a Land Rover Freelander and a Jaguar X type on Scragg Hill in Botley Road just after 5pm.

Romsey firefighters cut the woman out of the Alfa Romeo and she was treated at the scene for chest injuries by South Central Ambulance Service paramedics and then taken to Southampton General Hospital for further assessment.

Her injuries were described as non-life threatening.

A 51-year-old Chandler's Ford man who was driving the Land Rover received minor injuries but didn't require treatment. The driver of the Jaguar, a Salisbury man, escaped injury.

The road was closed for about two hours while the wreckage was cleared and police carried out an investigation into the incident. Traffic built up on nearby roads and police set up diversions on either side of the blocked road.
