PUMPKIN growers are getting ready for the big weigh-in at Michelmersh’s annual competition.
Growers are hoping for a fruitful return for their hard work in the shape of a prizes at the Bear and Ragged Staff Pumpkin Club’s show on October 19.
All cash raised at the show will go towards the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Pumpkin Club Chairman, Phil Hutchins said: “The show is always a lot of fun, regardless of the size of the pumpkins.”
Mr Hutchins said there will be classes for other other vegetables including a competition to find the biggest and heaviest marrow.
“Even if people haven’t been able to grow their own pumpkin they can buy one and dress it up,” he added.
Or they can dress themselves up, as there is Hallowe'en-themed fancy dress competition for humans.
Anyone planning to enter the contest is asked to take their exhibits along to the pub between 4.30pm and 7pm. Judging and the weigh-in starts at 7.30pm.
Details of all the show’s classes can be found on the club’s website, pumpkinclub.yolasite.com
