Station in line for spring clean

A TEAM of volunteers will be giving the area around Romsey Rail Station a spring clean next week.

Volunteers from the Three River Community Rail Partnership will be taking part in the clean-up between 11am and 2pm on Saturday, March 23.

Mark Miller of Three Rivers said that anyone was welcome to join the team, which would be trimming bushes and trees in the station forecourt and repainting the wall on platform one.

Those interested in helping with the work are asked to wear stout boots and gloves, and to bring gardening equipment such as loppers, spades, shovels, rakes, secateurs, hand saws and brooms.

Mr Miller added that anyone who has spare flowers seeds, plants or bulbs that they don’t want can drop them off at the station during the clean-up operation.

“We would be interested in using them to replant cleared areas in a more managed way,” he said.
