Working towards a greener town
TRANSITION Town Andover held its annual Green Day on the 29 September at Bridge Street’s Methodist Church.
Members of the public were welcomed and found out about the ongoing work towards creating a greener Andover.
Stands showing the activities of Transition Town Andover included the Christian Ecology Group and Green Dragon Farm grown fuel as well as other local organisations.
Andover Trees United was in attendance and paraded its countryside award for its inspirational project.
The Skye community orchard and Vigo Road Food Bed updated the town on their work and a free DIY insulation offer proved very popular.
The community initiative’s overall aims are to reduce the town’s dependency on fossil fuels and to raise awareness of climate change and peak oil.
Visitors were also invited to ‘Help Plant a Wood’ with Andover Trees United and many signed up for other forthcoming projects.
