THE Ducis and Everleigh Village Show proved a big draw as the many activities combined with the sunny weather helped to draw out the crowds on Saturday afternoon.

Show chairman Robert East said: “It all went extremely well, with the wonderful weather attracting a capacity audience and we made a record amount of money – more than £4,000.

“The donkey derby was a great attraction, very popular with the children.

“A lot of village organisations get involved and I think the success of the show provides a great lift for the whole community.

“There is a lot of work involved but we have a good strong committee that all pulls together.”

The donkeys are usually based at W e s t o n - super-Mare and run on the soft sand there but the slightly firmer going a t the recreation ground made for some competitive action!

Notable attendees at the show this year were Canon Ed Condry, Bishop of Ramsbury designate, and the Band of the Prince of Wales’s Division, who are based just down the road in Tidworth .

The show followed the successful formula of the previous three years, with the master of ceremonies for the day being Baz Reilly, from community radio station Castledown Radio.

The flower and produce show was organised by the Collingbournes and E v e r l e i g h Gardening Club.

T r a d i t i o n a l events included a fun dog show and a tug of war.
