ANDOVER Model Railway club held its 32nd Modelex show at Winton School on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 September.

Hundreds of visitors travelled to see what is now widely recognised as one of the best shows in the south of England.

The top three layouts as voted by the visitors to the exhibition saw Westcliffe voted number one. It was a representation of a Dorset seaside town complete with sounds of waves crashing on the beach and seagulls.

A Swiss mountain railway, Rhatia, finished in second place and a Lego railway layout claimed third place.

Other highlights included the club’s ever popular 0 gauge layout as well as a large G scale German model railway and a superb display from Andover Dolls House and Miniatures Club.

Visitors could also browse and find most of t h e i r modelling needs from the 20 trade stands attending.

Steve Rogerson, the club’s chairman said: “An event like this takes a lot of planning and enthusiasm by club members, with the object of promoting our hobby, being able to show the skills involved.

“Once again we had some superb exhibits, showing our hobby at its best.

“Our club supports the Hampshire Air Ambulance and we will be making a donation to them shortly, once the final figures are calculated.”

Andover Model Railway club meets every Wednesday at Tangley and Wildhern Village hall and will warmly welcome any new members or visitors.
