Jewellery stolen from Andover home

A JEWELLERY thief is being hunted by police after a burglary in Andover.

The theft occurred between12.30pm and 3.30pm on Thursday, 30 August at Moneyer Road, in Andover.

The offender or offenders entered the property and carried out an extensive search. They took a large amount of jewellery valued at around £500, £100 in cash, a mobile phone and a PSP.

A witness spoke to an Asian woman who called at the victim’s home, stating that she was delivering flowers. The woman was at the house during the time the burglary occurred and it is not clear whether or not this woman is linked to the burglary.

The woman is described as aged in her late 30s to early 40s, small in stature, well dressed with black hair. She spoke with an Indian accent and carried a bunch of red coloured flowers. She was last seen by the witness on Moneyer Road walking towards the Saxon Road roundabout.

Det Con Karen Smith said: “I am very keen to speak to the Asian woman who was seen at the victim’s address around the time of the burglary. “It may be that she was there for a genuine reason, however, it is unclear at this stage whether or not she is linked to the burglary.

“I would urge this woman to make contact with us as she may have seen or heard something vital to our investigation. I would also appeal to anyone who may have seen this woman in the area, to come forward and speak to us.” She added: “I would urge anyone with any information about this incident to come forward. Were you in the area at the time of the incident? Did you see the Asian woman or anyone acting suspiciously? Any information will be treated in the strictest confidence.”

Anyone with any information should contact Dc Smith at Andover CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
