TV PERSONALITY and entertainer Christopher Biggins has taken on a new role – as a Celebrity Ambassador for the Enham Trust charity.
The I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star has been recording a fundraising video about a major refurbishment project to turn Enham’s Resource Centre into a thriving internet cafe and social centre for the charity’s disabled residents.
Peta Wilkinson, Enham’s chief executive, said: “Christopher had everyone in stitches with his jokes.
“He came all the way down from London to help us with our new capital appeal project.
“We’re so lucky to have him on board.
“But the best thing was how much time he spent chatting to our residents.
“I think he’s made a number of new best friends.
She added: “Our work here at Enham centres on supporting disabled people to enable them to gain choice and independence in their lives.
“We want the power to say yes but some of our facilities lack purpose and function.
“ We want a thriving, modern community centre that residents, volunteers, staff and all disabled people can be proud of.”
The project, called Enham 500 needs to win support from 500 key Hampshire businesses, entrepreneurs to help realise the vision.
Each is being asked to give £1,000 which they believe in the present economic climate is both achievable and reasonable.
Enham 500 will be officially launched at a celebrity launch in early September.
