THE new outpatient facilities at Andover War Memorial Hospital are due to open for business on Monday after undergoing part of a £3m facelift.
The Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust said that the redevelopment of the department and the Minor Injuries Unit will provide patients and staff with a ‘smart, clean and modern environment’ after living with disruption for the past eight months.
The outpatients department will move into the new building over the weekend to make sure it is ready when the doors open at 9am on Monday.
The official opening for both the new outpatients department and Minor Injuries Unit will be held in the spring.
Chief executive Martin Wakeley said: “I’m really excited about the newly refurbished outpatients department.
“There has been a steady stream of NHS money pumped into Andover War Memorial Hospital but this is the icing on the cake.
“We now have a fantastic new outpatients department as well as an upgraded endoscopy suite, a revamped phlebotomy and minor injuries unit.
“I wasn’t impressed with the old outpatients department when I first saw it.
“Most of the time I’m proud of our service but once I’d seen the conditions our staff were working and our patients were being treated in, I was determined to make an improvement to their surroundings.”
