Female taxi driver could provide valuable information

WILTSHIRE Police believe a female taxi driver who picked up a fare in Tidworth and dropped him in Andover could help them with their enquiries into an assault.

The assault took place during the early hours of Sunday 31st January 2010 in the Ordnance Road area of Tidworth.

It is believed that two men were involved in an incident in the street which resulted in the victim, a 20 year old local man requiring hospital treatment.

He was taken to Salisbury District Hospital and fortunately did not sustain any serious injuries.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Amanda Warren said: ‘I would like to hear from anyone who has information regarding this assault that hasn’t already come forward.

“Wiltshire Police take all reports of violence very seriously and an investigation is under way.

“I would particularly like to speak to a woman taxi driver who may have picked up a man in Tidworth and dropped him off at an address in Andover in the early hours of Sunday 31 January.’ Anyone who has information is asked to please contact PC Amanda Warren on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where details can be left anonymously if preferred.
