Search is on for 2010 Carnival Prince and Princess

ONCE again it’s time to begin the search that will lead to the crowning of Andover’s Carnival Prince and Princess.

To set the wheels in motion the Andover Advertiser has arranged for all contestants to have their photographs taken by professional portrait photographer David Facey.

It all starts during the half-term holidays when girls and boys aged between eight and 13 and who live within a ten-mile radius of Andover are invited to the Chantry Centre, where David Facey will have a special stand set up for the photographic sessions.

Photographs of all entrants will be published in the Andover Advertiser on Friday 5 March and all readers will be asked to vote for their favourite.

The 12 girls and six boys who receive the most votes will go through to the final when a panel of judges will select the 2010 Andover Prince, Princess and her two attendants.

The final will take place at the Quality Hotel on the afternoon of Thursday 8 April and will include a free junior disco.

The Andover Advertiser will present both winners with a prize of £75 each and the two attendants will receive £25 each. The Prince and Princess will also each be treated to a family portrait by David Facey.

On the day of the 2010 Andover Carnival the lucky foursome will ride at the head of the procession.

The ‘Royals’ are also invited to a number of other events and are local celebrities during their reign.

The photographic sessions have been arranged for Wednesday and Thursday February 18 and 19 between 10am and 4pm in the Chantry Centre, Andover, and these sessions have been known to attract more than 100 hopefuls, so be sure to be there!

There is no need to make an appointment – just turn up on the day of your choice with a completed entry form which can be found on this page.
