WILTSHIE Police are investigating the death of Steven Mark Castaglioni, a 21 year old soldier serving in the Royal Artillery which occurred at approximately 11.10 pm on Monday in the Packway area of Larkhill.
A post mortem has been carried out but the results of further tests will not be known for a number of weeks.
The 29 year old local soldier who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Although the Packway has been reopened local residents may still be aware of an increased police presence as officers are continuing to go about their enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Bob Hamlin who is the Senior Investigating Officer said: "I would like to thank the community in Larkhill for their assistance and understanding following the disruption over the past couple of days. We are also grateful for the assistance from the Military authorities who we are working closely with.
"I would also like to reiterate my appeal for anyone who was in the area of the Packway, Larkhill between 10.30 - 11.15 pm on Monday evening or who has any information which may assist the investigation to contact me."
