A VILLAGE shop flipped more than 100 pancakes in the name of charity this week.

Residents Martin Jourdan and Jane Wilson put on their waterproofs and chefs hats to toss pancakes at The Clatfords’ Village Store on Tuesday.

Heavy rain and gusty winds did not deter residents from Upper Clatford and Goodworth Clatford, both old and young, from turning up.

They feasted of freshly cooked pancakes with toppings of sugar and lemon, maple syrup, Grand Marnier and Cointreau.

More than 100 pancakes were made and £110 was raised on behalf of the Andover Crisis & Support Centre.

The charity provides accommodation for women and women with children in need of a supportive environment together with telephone and drop-in services, which offer information, advice and support.

It also offers a counselling service for the local community.

Clayton Eggs of Romsey donated a tray of free range eggs towards the cause.

Martin Jourdan, shop chairman said: "Thank you to all the villagers who braved the rain and donated generously to the Andover Crisis & Support Centre and further thanks to everyone who supports us and continues to make our community owned shop a success."
