A female husky dog which was found abandoned tied to a telegraph pole on Friday is “doing well” according to the council currently looking after her.
The Akita Husky Cross, who is being temporarily identified as Hope, was found by a jogger in Cattle Lane near Andover and has since been taken in by Test Valley Borough Council, with the animal welfare officer taking her for a full assessment this morning.
While Hope was found thin, distressed and hungry, an initial check by the vet showed her to be in reasonable health and has been in a kennel on three meals a day to get her weight back up.
A TVBC spokesperson said: “This dog has had a full assessment this morning and is doing well, being fed and looked after. She may have some eyesight issues though but this doesn’t seem to be stopping her from running around and making friends with other dogs.
“We are required to keep the dog in temporary accommodation for seven days while we investigate the situation and try to find the owner.
“She will go to the Dog’s Trust in Newbury next week, so anyone genuinely wishing to re-home her would need to contact them to go through the standard procedure.”
