An Anna Valley adventurer has been awarded with the two highest youth scout awards possible for a member of the Scout Association.

Charlotte Grimsey grabbed gold for her Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award alongside the prestigious Queen’s Scout Award last Sunday at Weyhill Fairground and will now be invited to St James Palace and Windsor Castle over the coming months.

The 18-year-old will attend the castle’s annual St George’s Day parade next year where Chief Scout Bear Grylls will also be present, after obtaining her official Gold DofE certificate in London.

It took Charlotte over three years to achieve her goal completing both Bronze and Silver levels before the gruelling tasks of Gold Award which includes a wild country expedition.

The expedition saw Charlotte and her team head off to Dartmoor for four days of walking, wild camping and survival such as through collecting and sterilising their own drinking water from streams.

The outdoors lover has now recently qualified from Sparsholt College as an outdoor activities instructor.
