RESIDENTS are warning a “grave mistake” could be made as controversial plans to build more than 500 new homes on a site look set to be approved.

Developer Persimmon has submitted a revised application to Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC) to build 520 homes on land east of the current Picket Twenty site, a plan which has been recommended for approval by council planning officers.

One of the most contentious issues is the number of new houses proposed which is, in the words of a council officers’ report, ‘nearly double’ that outlined in the Test Valley Borough Revised Local Plan (RPL) which proposed around 300 homes.
