Lone diners are invited to join a care home for lunch on Wednesday in a bid to help tackle loneliness.

Rothsay Grange care home is opening its doors as part of its “Don’t Dine Alone” campaign, so those who usually eat by themselves can enjoy a lunch in the company of other guests, home residents and staff.

The 12pm meal will be followed by an afternoon of activities.

The “Don’t Dine Alone” initiative was launched by care provider Barchester Healthcare as a way to reach out to isolated or vulnerable members of local communities.

Customer relationship manager at Rothsay Grange Berni Martin said: “This campaign is a huge success and we will continue to support our community in tackling loneliness especially during the winter months and beyond.”

Other guests will come from various support centres and charities.

One of the diners that attended last month’s campaign said they were very pleased to have taken up the invitation and that they would “definetly come again.”
