A DEVELOPMENT of 91 homes could be coming to Picket Piece.

A planning application has been submitted to Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC) by Foreman Homes to build 91 homes on grazing land opposite Walworth Road.

The mix of one, two, three and four bedroom homes will include 55 dwellings to be market housing, while 36 are set to be social housing which meets TVBC’s affordable homes agenda set at 40 per cent of housing sites.

The development would also include a village green.

Foreman Homes planning director Steve Carrington said: “This proposal will see the delivery of much-needed family housing, but will be somewhat different to the Picket Piece norm as we have sought to create a far more distinctive development with contemporary architecture used throughout.

“The vast majority of the houses will be fronting onto a large area of publicly accessible open space - akin to a village green - that will be home to a fully equipped play space, seating areas and a community orchard.

“Of the 91 homes being promoted, some 36 of these will be affordable homes, with the remaining 55 being competitively priced. This is a scheme of which we are already immensely proud, and we very much look forward to delivering it in a timely fashion.”

The property developers secured permission to build 85 homes in Goch Way last year.

Test Valley Borough Council Northern Area Planning Committee has yet to confirm a date to discuss the application, but the plan is to be decided on by 21 November.

Andover Town Council planning committee chair Barbara Long said it will consider the plan at a meeting on 11 September.
