A BRIGHT green and yellow archway above Globe Yard has become the third new addition to Andover town centre’s design revamp.
The cheerful sign installed on Monday, August 14, follows on from the George Yard and Union Street arches recently installed on the opposite side of High Street.
A further four more arches will be installed in the town centre in a bid to draw more attention to the shops and businesses located down the side streets.
The Globe Yard arch also reads ‘Globe Galleries’ under the main header, and hangs next to the Globe Inn.
Globe Galleries owner Bill Evans said: “We think it’s very nice, I don’t know if it will attract more people but we hope it will, and it is a nice decorative feature. We’ve had a lot of people comment on it.”
The converted coach barn and stable block makes up six rooms hosting a range of antiques, collectibles and services.
Test Valley council leader Phil North said: “We are making great progress with the arches so I’m pleased to see the third one now in place.
“The idea of the arches came from feedback we’ve received from projects such as Encounters and Andover Vision, where residents have told us they’d like to enhance the High Street by guiding people to the shops and businesses off the main High Street.
“We are continuing to work with the property owners and legal teams to progress the remaining arches.”
