A COUNCILLOR has said he has faith in an Andover charity chief following a heated meeting held recently.

Enham Alamein parish councillor, James Nash, called for residents to play their part in helping to improve a ‘difficult situation’ after a public meeting with Enham Trust was held last month.

Trust chief executive, Heath Gunn, with other trust representatives, were at the meeting to address any concerns about the charity’s practices and future plans.

The councillor said: “The terrific turnout and show of unity really drove home the fact that there is discontent and insecurity in the village, but also that the parishioners believe that there is hope of resolving these issues for the long term good of our community. Things have to improve, we can all play a small part in that. On a personal level, and as a parish councillor I am happy to support individuals. If you find yourself at an impasse, or just need support I will be happy to do what I can.”

“In terms of the Enham Trust, Heath has taken on a mammoth task. He needs us as much as we need him to have any chance of improving a difficult situation. He will have to make hard decisions, but I for one have real faith that he will strive to do the very best that he can for all.”

The meeting was the first time Mr Gunn met with tenants of the village in this way since he came into post in November.

He said: “I thought the meeting was really positive, any forum that allows us to have a honest exchange of views and share information with our tenants has to be a good thing. I believe this meeting gave us a real platform from which to build and I look forward to the next one in three months. I would like to thank those who came along for their openness and honesty and for giving my team and I the opportunity to speak to them directly, by working together in this way we can build a stronger, more cohesive community for the good of Enham.”
