VETERANS, service personnel and their families were invited to a special screening of a new blockbuster.

An exclusive charity screening of Christopher Nolan’s new epic Dunkirk was held at Odeon, in Anton Mill Road, Andover, with 130 veterans, service personnel and their families in attendance, invited by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The screening, one of many across the country, was organised by Contact, the military mental health collaboration, to help raise awareness of the support available to the Armed Forces community.

Contact combines the efforts of numerous military charities, including Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion.

Help for Heroes beneficiary Cornelia Oosthuizen of Salisbury, a former Army mayor, attended the Andover screening.

She said: “I thought it showed the team aspect that inevitably is involved in military campaigns really well and of course the brutality of war too.”

“Seeing the different ways in which people demonstrated their courage by doing their bit and helping each other out was both humbling and inspiring.”
