AN 'AMAZING' outdoor-themed event took place in the town centre last week.

The first of Test Valley Borough Council's (TVBC) Four Fun Fridays took over High Street between 11am and 3pm.

Green-themed activities had families creating willow shooting stars and bird feeders, decorating and planting plant pots, TVBC’s recycling team bag toss competitions and games and the Andover Vision team were talking to residents to raise awareness about what to feed ducks with a hook-a-duck game.

Children and adults alike also helped fill in a chalk drawn maze created by Urban Canvas.

Maria Cowan, whose children were enjoying the willow shaping station, said: "I think it's amazing, I think it's really good.

"I didn't come last year but I think it's fantastic, it's lovely that people give up their time to do something so nice for the kids.

"My two really enjoyed it."

Mother Deborah O'Connor added: "We'll definitely come down again next week.

"It's a really good thing to especially with the nice weather."

The project has been funded by developer contributions for public art from the Andover Business Park and supports ambitions for Public Art in Test Valley to involve, inspire and intrigue residents.

Four Fun Fridays returns today with comedy street theatre activities with the return of the Swank Girl Guides with their full Guide camp for a Joyous Jamboree, complete with bivouacs, flagpoles and of course, the camp fire for sing-alongs.

The Bureau of Silly Ideas will be bringing the Shirt or Squirt bike to town for residents to race.

The Artroom will also be present to allow visitors to create a light catcher and artist Richard Austin will be doing live chainsaw wood carving displays through the day.

Any local businesses interested in getting involved in the events should contact Faye Perkins at The Lights on 01264 368844.
