POLICE have launched an investigation after a 22-year-old man was 'punched in the face' in an attack early this morning.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 22-year-old man was assaulted while walking along River Way at 3.20am.

He was walking along to meet his girlfriend from work when he passed two men.

One of the men assaulted the victim punching him in the face, before both men ran off.

He suffered cuts and bruising to his face.

The attacker is described as being white, aged between 20 and 30, around 6ft tall and very skinny.

He was wearing a red top and blue jeans.

The other man is described as being white, aged between 30 and 40 and around 5ft 10ins tall. He had short grey hair and was wearing a yellow hi-vis jacket.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who may have seen two men matching this description in the area this morning.
