AN AUGUSTA Park man has been given a suspended prison sentence and a £250 fine after pleading guilty to stealing items including pairs of shorts, meat and a vacuum cleaner worth £1232.05.

Dean Alexander Richardson indicated a plea of guilty to a number of offences after appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court recently.

The offences include admitting to stealing the following items in Andover:

  • an electric inflatable mattress worth £229 from Benson Ltd. on Monday 6 June
  • another electric inflatable mattress worth £229 from Benson Ltd.on Wednesday 20 July
  • two laptops worth £348 from Asda on Monday 25 July
  • a Dyson vacuum cleaner worth £250 from Currys on Thursday 28 July
  • three pairs of shorts worth £88.50 from Marks & Spencer on Thursday 11 August
  • meat worth £87.55 from Waitrose on Wednesday 14 September.

The 34-year-old, of Romney Road, was given a four-month concurrent sentence, suspended for one year, for the offences and was ordered to complete a drug rehabilitation programme.

He was also fined a total of £250 in compensation.
