ONE of the world's most famous trains traveled through Andover station on Saturday as part of a tour of the South.
The Flying Scotsman passed through Andover as part of a circular tour of the area, starting and ending in Salisbury.
During the journey the train, which made history in 1934 when it became the first to reach 100mph, stopped off in two Test Valley stations, Mottisfont and Dunbridge and Romsey.
The journey was part of a nationwide tour following a decade-long restoration project costing £4.2 million, thanks to the National Railway Museum.
However it had to undergo emergency repairs the day before the trip following a mechanical problem during a journey from York to London.
A spokeswoman for the National Railway Museum said: “The mechanical problem has been fixed and the Flying Scotsman is expected to make its tour of the South this weekend.”
She said the problem was down to faults with injectors supplying the engine’s boiler with water.
